Why should I care

Bored, decided to write some songs lyrics, probably crap and might delete later, I really am in a weird mood today.

Think heavy, straight 4/4 drum beat, strong alternate bass drum and snare

WHY SHOULD I CARE

Why should I care about the government
when they don't give a toss about me

Why should I care about the government
when they are throwing my future away

Money for healthcare goes on bombs
Money for schools on guns and armour
Money for the future of society goes towards fighting wars that we just don't need

Don't believe in democracy when the people I elect don't care about me
Don't want to vote for another yes man, next year I'm ticking Monster Looney

Why should I care about the government
when they don't give a toss about me

Why should I care about the government
when they are throwing my future away

Money for books goes to feed the fat cats
Money for the homeless goes on stately homes for the Queen
Money for moneys sake no money for me

Why should I vote for the goverment that lie and cheat and don't care about me
Why should I care about democracy when it's led by people that just want to lead.

Radio Wonderland

The BBC have improved on something that looked unlikely to be able to be improved on.

The BBC Radio Player includes not only live streams of the BBC's mass of radio stations from local radio like BBC Radio Jersey and BBC Three Counties Radio to national FM network stations like Radio 1 and Radio 4 to new digital upstarts like 6music and BBC 7 but also hosts hundreds of shows that you can listen to for a week or so after broadcast.

Everything from new comedy Nebulas to the Today Show or music from Liberachi to the Libertines.

The new Radio Player is larger and easier to navigate it even includes MORE content than before.

Go to bbc.co.uk/radio to launch the player - and there is always hope that within a year or so the BBC will launch the iMP, a video version of the Radio Player for all BBC TV channels and their content.

Sounds of a new band

I've been on a hunt to find an original band that is doing something noone else has tried, unfortunatly that is impossible, everything in music is a rehash of something else and the further we get from the 'Rock and Roll Fault Line' of the 1950's the further we get from finding something original.

However, not being able to find something truely original doesn't mean we can't find something good, great bands of the moment include Razorlight, Franz Ferdinand, The Subways and The Bravery.

In fact I could fill pages of band names that I'm into at the moment, all doing something old (usually from the 80s) but giving it a modern vibe, and that is the 'new' element we have to look for.

A band that is fairly easy to listen to, slightly predictable but familiar with an Oasis meets Coldplay sound are Daybreak, currently unsigned but worth a listen with a well produced demo and a passionate band that gel well together musically.

Daybreak are:
Andy Martin - Vocals / Guitar
Kyle Hammond - Lead Guitar / Backing Vocals
Dan Ryan - Drums / Percussion
Andy New - Bass / Backing Vocals

The importance of being THREE

People complain about BBC THREE, say it should show more repeats of older shows, other BBC ONE shows, that is repeats the same programme to many times in a week or that it shouldn't be on the air at all.

I disagree.

Your kiding right?

BBC THREE is a fantastic channel with great content, my wife watches Body Hits, Little Angels and Who Rules the roost, Wedding Stories and The Batchelor almost religiously.

I really like Two Pints, Little Britain, Ideal and Twisted Tales.

The Smoking Room, Monkey Dust and Mighty Boosh are fantastic as are Bodies, Outlaws and the new 7 Days.

I think BBC THREE should be doing MORE new inivative content not older stuff that has already been on, we should be moving forward not looking back - buy the DVD, watch it on UKTV or wait until the creative archive is finally sorted.

And as for repeats I like them, I often don't get to see the programme I want on it's first airing in a week, sometimes not until it's second or third airing - why? - because I have other things to do.

My vote is Keep BBC THREE , let it do what it is doing - plus some and we will have great iniviative content that in 10 years time will want to watch again on some repeat channel.

The British Musical Empire

It's fairly obvious to anyone with a slight interest in music that the British music scene is going through a golden age, we have some awesome bands, great songs, sensational artists and stunning singers (oh and Darius but you can't have everything).

Unlike golden era's of the past where we excelled in a single type of music, say for example punk with the Buzzcocks and Johnny Rottens own Sex Pistols in the 70s or back further with Rock n Roll and the Beatles/Rolling Stones in the 60s/70s.

Now we have everything from Jazz to Swing, Rock, Punk, Soul, Funk, Blues, Hip-Hop, Dance, Garage and Indie/Alternative.

From Joss Stone to Razorlight through Jamie Cullum and on to the Darkness the British music scene is really exploding and in 2005 is likely to take over the world.

Q Magazine labelled this as the Britpack but I think a better term would be BME or 'The British Musical Empire'.

TV Repeats: Important or Annoying?

A lot of people slam repeats of TV programmes as a pointless waste of air time and a surefire decline of the quality of television.

I personally see TV repeats as absolutely fantastic, I rarely get to see a tv show on its first airing, usually on it's second or third repeat if I'm lucky.

There are loads of programmes on TV that I want to see, the problem is they are either on when I am out or at the same time as other shows, I have a VCR (but they are crap) and can't afford a PVR yet so my only chance (other than downloading them) is to catch a repeat.

I have missed so many great shows because they clash with my life or another programme and until we have true video on demand where you download a programme at any time and watch it when you like I am stuck with repeats.

My vote is for more repeats.
