God bless October

I love October - the weather starts to cool down and feel more comfortable, my life becomes less hectic due to the summer season coming to an end and the new Autumn television season kicks off.

And this year that means Top Gear is back on BBC Two with a new ten part series packed with challenges, reviews and opinions - lots and lots of opinions.

It also means that Spooks is back on BBC One with a series that carries a single theme from start to finish.

The Electric Proms are back across BBC Radio, Television and online - a brilliant concept in rock/pop music festival.

Another interesting series is The Genius of Photography - The Genius Of Photography (Thursday 25 October on BBC FOUR). This is a new, six-part series focuses on the inventions of photography and the way in which it became one of the world’s most influential art forms.

Oz and James’s big Wine Adventure is back again - this time going across the USA looking for American wine. An eight part series on BBC Two. Video clip below from series 1.

Robin Hood is back again with a new series on BBC ONE every Saturday evening. Robin and the gang are back, battling old foes and new, as Dominic Minghella’s drama returns for a bigger, bolder series, starring Jonas Armstrong.

Louis Theroux is back and this time he goes Under The Knife. Louis Theroux travels to California, the birthplace of plastic surgery, and meets the “boob man” of Beverly Hills and the patients who are about to undergo some drastic procedures.

Then - there’s also Torchwood coming up soon. The brilliant Stephen Fry in HIV and Me, an increasing mass of brilliant Radio 4 dramas, comedies and more - on top of The Tudors - another look at old Henry VIII on BBC Two.

And that’s just what’s on the BBC. It doesn’t include the new series of Stargate Atlantis, The Simpsons, The Weeds and much more from America and the UK commercial networks (I don’t really watch much on ITV as I find it all a bit um… mainstream but I’m sure there’s some good stuff).

Oh and I nearly forgot one of my favourite shows - QI with Stephen Fry, Alan Davies and a selection of top British comedians - the new series E started a couple of weeks ago.

And from Channel 4 - the increasingly funny IT Crowd.

So with all that to look forward to and that’s just on television and radio - I can’t work out how I’m going to get any blogging done in October.

I mean - there’s all of that, dozens of podcasts, audio books, radio shows and actual books - there’s movies, family, work and well… life to fit in.
