Nearly back to normal

I don’t take much time off work if I can help it - life at work is a lot easier than life at home with three children. However I do have three children and a much put upon wife who needs a break every so often.
Which is why a few times a year I take a week of work and go to visit my parents in England.
I love going to see my parents, the kids of love seeing my parents BUT as we’re staying with them in a three bedroom house - it usually ends up more like a week of hard work for us and them than a holiday for any of us.
This time really wasn’t that different - there were some real highlights of course - there always are and I get to see mum and dad, but to be honest it would be more peaceful at work where I get to read a book and eat lunch on the beach for an hour or so in the middle of the day - use the web as and when I like and be around lots of like minded people.
Which is why I’m really looking forward to getting back behind my desk this coming Monday - although I do have a day of watching some brilliant Jersey bands this Sunday first.
The reason I’m telling you all of the above is a way of explanation for why I haven’t blogged in a couple of weeks.
Basically I’ve been at my parents for the last seven days and before that took a few days off ‘at home’ before going away. And now I’m approaching the end of a few days of ‘at home’ before going back to work.
As I normally blog either on my lunchbreak or during that sweet spot in the evening - when the kids of gone to bed and when my wife has gone to bed but before I get too tired and my eyes too heavy to read the screen (around 10:30-11:30pm) - I haven’t had a chance to do it.
This means that I’ve missed the launch of the new BBC Music Beta (I’ll write more about it soon) and several other media stories but I’ll be catching up over the next few days and I’ll bring you a full report and photos from the Jersey Battle of Flowers in a couple of weeks.
I’ve also got half written posts on making paper aeroplanes and earning man points - just to diversify things a little bit.
I’m also planning to turn my directory of re-designed BBC sites into a page to make it easier to find and update the thing as well.
There’s also videos on both those subjects in the works and one on sandcastles - but they’ll take a little bit longer to complete.
