More from the BBC

When the BBC started re-launching its sites into the new design language (with the big black bar at the top of the page) there were a LOT of complaints.
Actually there weren’t THAT many complaints when it first launched as one of the first sites to go live was Lilly Allen, closely followed by Eurovision Song Contest - the complaints started when they re-launched sites like News, Sport and the BBC Homepage.
Interestingly the Doctor Who re-launch seems to have gone down well - but that’s bacause it’s been done well and makes good use of the extra space (unlike news) and has a massive amount of extra content that wasn’t there before.
One of the complaints - although not a major one - was about the pointlessness of the large black bar and the loss of key links that used to be there on the old grey bar.

Well now that has been resolved and heavily improved on - the problem with the old bar was that none of the links were THAT useful - they took you to a small number of places but were never that well used.
Now they’ve been replaced with a layed pop-out box that gives a number of key links to BBC content including major shows currently on TV (Doctor Who, The Apprentice etc…).

As you can see it’s basically a cut down version of the directory found on the main BBC Homepage (look at the bottom in case you’ve missed it).
It works the same on almost every site I’ve seen it on so far - it flys out next to the Explore the BBC button and covers the black bar.
