Five years of this
March 27, 2008
I know I’ve been blogging for a long time but not always on this URL - so finding the exact date I started blogging has been tough - so far I’ve only been able to trace back about three years - well now I can go further.
I’ve just found the first ‘blog’ post I made through a proper blogging platform (not one I wrote myself) and it’s five years old. It was written through Blogger (before Google) and is about as long as a Tweet would be now.
You can see it for yourself here. I knew there was a reason I never deleted anything - ever
Anyway my first post basically said:
Today has been a pretty boring day - get up - go to work an hour late, produce the news and a couple of new features, go into town for a bit to sort out new home with wife, fail due to understaffed housing department - go back to work and do a lot of nothing for a couple of hours - come home - re build computer - sign up for blogger - sleep.
.
So I didn’t write anything more interesting then than I do now - also my life doesn’t seem to have changed much either.
My original tag line described me as an “incredibly stange new media journalist with little or nothing to do out of working hours, needs a good home and something to fill time.” So some things never change!
But the date is the most interesting thing - it was posted on 3/3/2003 at 11:36:09 PM - over five years ago.
I was blogging before this - back in the days I was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints I had a site called I Am LDS where I used to keep a sort of diary.
The back end was a self written interface that stored stories, with a date stamp to an access database and re-produced them in descending date order on a page - or - a blog. That was in 1999/2000 when I first started getting back into being a Mormon.
If only I had the idea to set up Up Your Ego and had kept to a single domain name since 1999 and carried on blogging all the way through - I might just be an A lister by now - then again probably not
While we’re on the subject of digging up old page - here’s a form you can use to search for Audio Video files on Google. Try it for Razorlight and select Audio. http://tinyurl.com/3bmg65
