Lunchtime ‘Window Shop’ Challenge

March 5, 2008 by upyourego

A while ago I wrote a post called ‘ten things to do on a rainy lunchbreak‘ and one of the ideas I suggested was the Lunchtime Challenge.

The challenge is pretty simple - all you need is an internet connection and a web browser to take part - well that and a bit of ‘bored’ time in the middle of the day.

So I’m going to set a challenge for this week 1) to see if anyone actually reads my blog and 2) because I’m bored and think it could be fun.

The Challenge Rules

The game is pretty simple, you have a ‘virtual’ budget, a virtual shop and a few items you need to look for.

The game involves heading to the site set by the challenger (i.e. Apple.com, Amazon.com, Play.com, Dell.com) and spending as much of your budget as possible within a set amound of time.

The Challenger sets the site, budget and a number of ‘must haves’ that you need to find. So here goes - I’m going to get the ball rolling with the first challenge - the winner is the person that’s filled their wish list/shopping basket with goods coming to a total as close to your budget as possible - it has to include the items I set out but can include anything else.

You need to post a screen grab of your shopping basket (or a link to your wishlist) to Flickr and tag it lunchtimechallenge and then post here how close you got to the total.

The person with the closest basket to their budget and all the preset items will get to set the next challenge on their blog (or here if you don’t have a blog). A game meme!

If nobody replies I’ll kill the idea.

The Game - 05/03/08

Deadline (when this challenge closes): 08/03/08

Budget: £5,500

Site: Amazon.co.uk

Essentials (things you have to include): A folk music CD with a green label, a Doctor Who toy, two crime related DVDs and something by Billy Bragg.

Good luck.

That’s a good list - nice move going for the £5000 plasma screen - fills a big chunck of your budget.

However - I’m not sure I can accept the PS3 as it isn’t currently available and might not be avaialable before the deadline :)

Nah I think it will be allowed. Thanks for playing.

Wasn’t sure if non-amazon merchants were allowed, because technically they require extra postage, whereas on an order this size all amazon-only orders have free p&p
