Constant Capture Culture

February 21, 2008 by upyourego

I carry a camera with me everywhere I go - either in the form of a Nikon D40 thats kept in my bag or, if I haven’t got my bag, the camera attached to my mobile phone.

The main reason I carry a camera everywhere is the adage “If I don’t a great photo will appear and I’ll miss it” unfortunately the opposite of that is also true “when I do take it a photo never appears”.

One of the most striking developments of the 21st Century is that of the ‘constant capture culture’. The idea that everybody has a photo, everybody takes photos of everything and everybody else is taking photos of the people taking photos of everything.

In this photo, taken at Hack London 2007 I’m taking a photo of someone else taking a photo of an activity while someone else (blue) is taking a photo of me taking a photo of the man taking a photo of the activity.

Fun!

You can see more of my photos on Flickr.
