Internet debate is…

I’ve been using the net for a very long time, I’ve contributed to MANY debates in message boards, chat rooms and through comment forms on a website.

I can proudly say that, in the last 12-13 years or so the quality of debate hasn’t gone down one iota - but as the quality of internet debate was already in negative figures - going down wasn’t really possible.

No it hasn’t gone down - it’s just increased as now there are opportunities to spout your own brand of bollocks in MANY more places than ever before.

You see the problem with internet debate isn’t what it IS as the title of this post suggests but more what it isn’t - it isn’t DEBATE!

It’s a bloody argument plain and simple - people talking on the internet (especially about an important subject - but could easily be about a pointless subject) don’t actually debate anything, there’s no real attempt to score points - it’s all about shouting the loudest and getting your voice heard over the other person.

Internet debate is a case of saying something often enough that everyone believes its true.

Internet debate is like an argument with your wife - you know you she’s right, she knows she’s right but you’ll be damned if you’ll admit it.

Internet debate is like sticking your bollocks in a blender - pointless and painful.

Internet debate is like suddenly finding out the secret of the universe and the only other person left on the planet being death and blind.

Internet debate is just a load of old cobblers where everybody has everything to say but nothing with any meaning.
