I spend most of my lunchbreaks walking the streets of St Helier hunting for a bench to sit on and read.
Unfortunately benches are few and far between at lunchtime as most are already occupied by old people.
I don’t mind this too much, after all they need to sit down more than me and I actually like walking around looking at things.
The other day I did managed to find a seat and sat down to read my book - but ten minutes later a woman arrived.
An old woman bringing a mass of stale bread to feed the pigeons in the Royal Square - opposite where I was sitting.
I wanted to take a photo, after all it was an amazing shot - seeing around 100 pigeons flocking around, standing on and flying over this woman.
But rarely I didn’t have my camera and my mobile phone was dead - so I couldn’t take anything at all.
Which is why I’ve posted this photo, a similar shot taken two years ago - from my photos archive.
Lesson for the future - never leave the house without your camera.
