Who I’m not

Once a year or so I like to Google my own name to see who I’m not. I look at the first 30 or so results (based on 10 results per page) to see how many of the results aren’t me.

So who am I not?

Well fortunatly the first result on a no quotes search for Ryan Morrison (searching The Web) is a link to my own blog - this very blog you’re reading right now but the second isn’t.

The second result takes you to a Bagpiper from Birmingham called Ryan Morrison. Apparently he is available for weddings, funerals and other services.

The third result is once again one of my own - this time going to my My Space profile. Of the ten results on the first page three go to results on sites I control and one is a quote from me on someone elses blog.

So we’ve worked out I’m not a bagpiper from Birmingham but who else am I not? Well I’m not an artist called Ryan Morrison posting fantasy art about something called Elfwood.

I’m also not an attorney for something called Quarles and Brady LLP. I don’t practice in teh areas of corporate finance, securities, regulations, mergers and acquisitions.

So on to page two. Another one from me at number two - this time a post on my own blog about the BBC iPlayer.

Other posts from me include my coverage of the Jersey Election in 2005, an RSS search engine linking to the upyourego rss feed and another blog I write for called 5tracks.

So again who am I not? I’m not at the Marshal University College of Science and my middle initial isn’t G.

So to the final page.

On this page there is a number of posts on Pledge Bank about my Pledge to give blood before the end of the year (in 2005) - I didn’t do it!

In fact all bar two of the results on page three are from the Pledge Bank pledge page. The other two aren’t me. The first result on page three goes to the Kingdom FM site where Ryan Morrison is (was?) a presenter.

The second is an athlete profile for a guy called Ryan Morrison at the Carroll College Anthletics department. That one REALLY isn’t me. I was going to do three pages but decided to go on to a fourth because of all the Pledge Bank posts on the previous page.

The first non pledgebank result is a website called SXC.hu.

So thats who I am but who am I not? I’m not an Elder in the LDS church featured in an article by David A Edwards.

I’m also not Music Director on an event called The Incredible Kilted Brigade and Ultra Hip Revue - described as Bellydance, Bagpipes and Drums.

So after four pages of Google results I can confirm that I’m not a bagpiping athletic mormon attorney with a side job in radio presentation.

I am a twenty something guitar playing broadcast journalist with no athletic ability.

This might make for a fun social networking mash-up site based on the Google API and maybe a few other social network sites - In fact a Google search for whoimnot has brought up a number of people doing the same thing as me.

I don’t have the time, will or ability but I’d love to sign up for a site that linked my name to everyone else that shared the same name with tags linking the things we do and don’t have in common. Could be fun.
