The Big Guns
February 13, 2007
Basically I’m trying to make my ultimate Big Gun list. The people I would have on the panel of the ultimate TV review show, the people I’d have writing for my ideal all round magazine, website or newspaper - the people that would make for the ‘perfect’ blog.
Not necessarily the best reviewers or people that hold the most interesting opinions, but people with a big gob, lots of opinions on lots of subjects and the ability to put them across in a funny, intelligent way.
At the moment I’ve got:
Stephen Fry on EVERYTHING because he is GOD!
Charlie Brooker on TV
Jeremy Clarkson on Cars
Mark Kermode on Film
Jeremy Paxman on News
Marcus Brigstocke on Society
Bill Thompson on New Media
David Attenborough on Animals
Boris Johnson on Classical History
Dick Strawbridge on Scrap Heap Goodness
Dan Cruickshank on Buildings and their History.
Any ideas? Who else would you put in there and why? I need a political specialist, someone who can talk about politics without being politically biast - maybe Paxman should be politics and someone else should take news?

Stephen Fry, as expert on everything. The sheer breadth of knowledge the man has is shocking. Plus, he can argue like few others.

Brilliant addition, I’ll put him on the list.

David Attenborough - Animals
He is quite possibly the most knowledgeable person in the world on animals.

Dick Strawbridge, on all stationary things that should move (with the aid of WD40) and moving things that shouldn’t (with the aid of explosives).
Oh, and Dan Cruickshank on buildings and the history thereof.
