Apple Zones in TESCO
January 12, 2007
Following a trial at the Milton Keynes Store, the UK supermarket giant TESCO are set to introduce more Apple Zones in their large stores across the country.
As well as selling iPods, Macs, accessories and other products the zones will feature Apple experts and specially trained TESCO staff to help people buy the products.
The Zones will be within the existing technology areas alongside similar zones for things like the Sony Bravia televisions.Matt Leeser, consumer electronics buyer for Tesco, said: “Customers have responded really well to our Kingston Apple Area. They have enjoyed the shopping experience and the support of trained staff on hand. Rolling out these zones in further stores, Tesco is leading the way in this arena, offering a concept which allows customers to interact with the latest technology with fabulous service and all at great value of money.
“Partnering with key electronic brands such as Apple reflects our increasing presence and credibility in the electrical market.”
New interactive units are being introduced to stores allowing customers to sit and experience the latest in the home theatre market, alongside CD / DVD preview stations and interactive gaming demonstration pods.
If you want to go and check one of the zones out then make your way to one of the following:
- Tesco Milton Keynes
- Tesco Broadstairs
- Tesco Leicester
- Tesco Stockton
- Tesco Addlestone
- Tesco Pitsea
- Tesco Merthyr Tydfil
- Tesco Barrow
- Tesco Leeds Seacroft
- Tesco Wath-upon-Dearne
- Homeplus Chelsmford
As an Apple fan I think this is a great thing for Apple. A LOT of people go to TESCO and if while browsing the shop they come across a Mac Mini for £300 it might be a first introduction to the alternative computer system.
The same applies to people looking for an iPod. At the moment iPods are being brought in general entertainment sections next to other MP3 players and accessories.
With these new Apple Zones in TESCO people will be going in to get their iPod and at the same time find out about other Apple computer products that for the most part aren’t THAT much more expensive than Windows based PCs.
