More Doctor Who - No Doctor

Just read about a new series of Doctor Who launching in 2007 - but it’s not Doctor Who, it’s another spin off.

The new series is being made for CBBC and will be written by Russell T Davies and will be called Sarah Jane Adventures.

From that you can probably guess that it involves Sarah Jane Smith having Adventures and investigating things on Earth.

A 60-minute special will go out on BBC One and the CBBC channel in early 2007, with the series – The Sarah Jane Adventures - following later in the year.

The series will be set in present-day west London, the programme follows the adventures of Sarah Jane and her 13-year-old neighbour Maria, who form an unlikely alliance to fight evil alien forces at work in Britain.

Russell T will be writing it and he said: “Children’s tv has a fine history of fantasy thrillers. I loved them as a kid - they were the very first things I ever wrote.”

I love the idea and can’t wait to see it as the final part of the Doctor Who universe I’m starting to inhabit more than my ‘real’ universe.

It’s joining Doctor Who, Torchwood and various websites, books, audio stories and podcasts already pulling me towards total immersion.
