Web Radio

August 7, 2006

After spending a couple of weeks in England with access to DAB radio and the chance to easily switch between a relatively wide selection of radio stations - I’m missing it.

I have my computer at home hooked up to my stereo so decided I’d launch iTunes and listen to the radio through the web - didn’t work as it only has one or two of the British stations I liked from DAB.

So I wen’t into Real and that was just as useless, followed that by going into Windows Media Player 11 and that had nothing at all - tried a Google search and YES a few sites had links to British web radio stations but they were either horrible looking, awful to navigate or pointed to the station site instead of the stream.

So I’ve decided to launch a new site purely for myself - as it’s for myself I could just launch it at webradio.upyourego.com but decided to register a domain anyway as it’s so cheap.

So give me a month or so and you’ll be able to access web radio stations in the UK through www.mywebradio.co.uk.

In the meantime here is a graphic I designed for use on the site that I’ve since changed my mind about and won’t be using - I spent half an hour on it so didn’t want to not use it anywhere.

Radio Player Design

I may try and find a way of including or incorporating the iStockRadio site somehow (it’s a site that lets podcasters share material to get a variety of voices on podcasts).
